Senior Engineer (m/f/d) Vehicle Specification

As a Vehicle Specification Engineer (m/f/d), you will play a key role in the field of race car performance optimisation and participate in road car projects that facilitate technology transfer from race to road cars. You will optimise car performance through simulation and data analysis with continuous improvement to internal methodologies and processes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve the performance and reliability of Le Mans Hypercar, GT3 and road car projects.

Your Tasks:

  • Analyse simulation results from offline simulation tools, driver-in-loop simulator and track data to evaluate vehicle performance
  • Identify areas for improvement and recommend design or process modifications
  • Conduct investigative studies using analytical or simulation approach to enhance vehicle performance
  • Validate simulation models by comparing predictions with real-world data to ensure correlation accuracy
  • Develop metrics (KPIs) to support performance analysis optimisation
  • Apply and develop in-house optimization techniques to enhance vehicle performance and reliability
  • Regularly communicate findings and recommendations of simulation and analytical studies with clearly written documentation including assumptions, methodologies and results
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of internal processes and methodologies while contributing to vehicle development through evaluation of new vehicle concepts. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies and best practices

 

The successful candidate will:

  • have an academical degree in mechanical engineering, mathematics, computer science or a related field; A Ph.D. may be an advantage
  • show a high proficiency with scripting languages such as Python and MATLAB is a requirement
  • display knowledge of one or more of the following areas of vehicle science: Vehicle Dynamics, Tyres, Suspension, Aerodynamics or Control Systems
  • be experience of using full vehicle dynamic and/or quasi-static simulation
  • be proficient with time-series data viewer software such as ATLAS or Wintax
  • display knowledge and experience of signal processing theory and techniques 
  • be familiar with optimisation theory and techniques 
  • have experience with artificial intelligence and machine learning
