Senior Engineer (m/f/d) Driving Simulation

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Engineer (m/w/d) to join our Vehicle Simulation team. You will be responsible for developing real-time vehicle simulation models and lap-time calculation and performance optimization algorithms. You will play a crucial role in collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and software developers. We aim to innovate and accelerate the wider deployment of state-of-the-art Digital Twin and driving simulation technologies, applied to Toyota GR racing and road vehicle development programmes.

Your Tasks:

  • develop and maintain the TGR-E in-house vehicle simulation models for dynamic simulation and quasistatic solving
  • develop and maintain the TGR-E in-house lap-time calculation and performance optimization algorithms
  • collaborate with other TGR-E members to integrate provided mathematical and physical models and support their code optimization
  • maintain composure during demanding situations, exhibiting a “cool-head” approach to problem-solving
  • approach challenges with a proactive mindset, proposing innovative solutions and driving development
  • stay updated with the latest advancements in driving simulation technology and contribute to research projects

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • minimum a master’s degree in automotive or motorsport engineering or an engineering discipline with modules relating to several of the following topics: Mathematical/Physical Modelling, Vehicle Dynamics, Simulation, Optimisation, Control Theory or Robotics/ Mechatronics
  • at least 5 years of experience in performance vehicle dynamics simulation
  • strong proficiency in mathematical and physical modelling of vehicle dynamics systems as well as optimization methods
  • strong experience in development of quasistatic and dynamic lap-time calculation and performance optimization methods
  • proficient knowledge in more than one programming language – e.g. C++, C, MATLAB/Simulink, Python
  • previous experience working with code generated from Simulink
  • previous experience with numerical integration methods to solve dynamical models
  • a clean code mindset and strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • previous experience working across multiple operating systems (e.g. Linux)
  • self-motivation, be able to work under pressure, be able to manage multiple tasks effectively, and eager to learn

the appreciation and understanding of source control and continuous integration tools in a development pipeline
