Performance Engineer (m/f/d) BoP

We are looking for a Performance Engineer (m/f/d) for supporting our GT3 and GT4 customer programs with performance analysis and reviews of the Balance of Performance (BoP).

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated performance engineer (m/f/d), to join TOYOTA RACING in Cologne and trackside, at international race events.

Your tasks:
- Work alongside our support team and the engineering groups in Cologne to deliver comprehensive performance analysis of drivers, teams, and cars using car data, timing data, and simulation tools across various categories, championships, events, and circuits
- Liaise with our customer teams to understand the limiting factors for performance against competition.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with the sporting authorities, ensuring smooth communication and compliance
- Represent Toyota in Balance of Performance (BoP) discussions, including official communications and working groups
- Keep key stakeholders informed on both customer team and support team side regarding BoP development and decisions
- Assist with driver performance analysis to support scouting and evaluation activities
- Extensive travel to European and/or international events will be required
The successful candidate will have:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline
- Several years of experience in a similar role or as a race team performance engineer in GT3
- Strong communication skills with the ability to confidently and knowledgeably engage as a customer-facing representative of the company
- Proven track record in data analysis, including proficiency with motorsport data analysis tools such as Magneti Marelli Wintax/Sysma, Bosch Windarab, Racecon, PiToolbox, Atlas
- Hands-on experience with timing analysis tools, ideally HH-timing, and Matlab is a big plus
- Solid technical background in vehicle dynamics, tyres, suspensions, aerodynamics and control systems
- Good understanding of race car architecture, encompassing both electrical and mechanical systems
- Customer-focused mindset with excellent interpersonal skills to foster collaborative relationships
- Results-oriented approach, prioritizing customer satisfaction and timely delivery.
- A flexible approach to working hours and tasks is essential
- A high willingness to travel
